My name is Annmarie Lobdell and I grew up in New York state surrounded by the beautiful Hudson Valley landscapes. Here, I developed a love of art, animals, and the beauty of my surroundings. I studied drawing and painting in my early semesters of college, but took a long hiatus to raise a family and pursue a career in the medical imaging industry. During that period my life was full with family and work, but I never stopped dreaming that some day I would be able to return to my passion of creating art. In recent years I have been able to pick up the pencils and brushes to make that dream a reality. I work with a variety of media, including pastels, charcoal, and oil, and I love to experiment with different painting surfaces and papers.
As an artist I see the beauty of the world around me, and know that we are energetically intertwined with nature. Memories of places I have visited from the mountains to the shore have left a permanent impression on me. For those who feel connected to a special place or memory, the visualization of a vibrant representation of a family homestead, recurring vacation spot, or local mountain horizon could keep those memories alive while filling an open spot on the wall.
I also have a love and dedication to animals as witnessed by the menagerie of pets I have taken in over the years. By connecting pet owners with portraits of their loved ones, I hope to share the spirit of my subjects through art, with others who understand the deep relationship and love we share with our animals.
Ten percent of the sale of commission artwork will be donated to an animal related charity. For clients who have a charity close to their heart, I prefer to make the donation the charity they are connected to. If there is no specified charity, the donation will remain relevant to the pet and their owner. Donations have been made to no-kill animal shelters, K9’s for Warriors, and the Veterinary and Critical Care Association among others.
